ARC - Academic Resource Center: Home

What Do We Do?

The Academic Resource Center (ARC), housed in Kristine Kay Hasse Memorial Library, provides academic support to Concordia Seminary students at no charge. The ARC provides resources and support for every aspect of students’ academic needs, including but not limited to: languages, writing, and exams. The ARC supports Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and German studies through individual tutoring, review, and homework sessions. Writing consultants are also available online, for consultations on writing projects—from coursework assignments to dissertations.

If you would like academic support for exams, course assignments, or projects, please contact the Academic Resource Center by emailing librarycirc@csl.edu or contacting Pamela Withrow, Public Services Librarian, at 314-505-7036.

The List

Academic Resource Center - Overview

In general, we provide weekly group sessions for current language study. For individual sessions, we professors should reach out to us with their recommendations and for individual student’s needs.

  • Summer:
    • weekly homework and review sessions for the intensive Greek and Hebrew courses
  • Fall:
    •  weekly homework and review sessions for the 4th year Hebrew and Greek language exams.
  • Year-round:
    •  if more intensive one-on-one tutoring sessions are needed for a student in a language course, we will work with their faculty member to find a solution

Writing

We provide general writing consultations for writing projects—from coursework assignments to dissertations, including ESL writing support. We do not copyedit, but we will facilitate developing writing and editing skills while consulting on writing.

  • Individual: writing consultations either in-person or online
  • Group: Writing group facilitation and periodic writing retreats
  • Research and Reference: In class instruction for research assignments and individual assistance
