Introduction to Historical Theology: St. Francis of Assisi

Class study on Church History

Brief Biography

Francis of Assisi was a saint who lived between 1181 – 1226. He founded the Franciscans. St. Francis balanced monastic life with one of involved service. He renounced wealth and the church’s ownership of private property. He was known for his love of the Eucharist and the trinity.  Toward his later life, he apparently developed stigmata, the wounds of Christ on his body. He was quickly venerated as a saint.  He is most remembered for his dedication toward mirroring Christ
