Summary

Athanasius was a 4th century church leader that was an important defender of orthodoxy against the Arian heresy. He lived most of his life in Alexandria and was the bishop of the church in that city. He championed the doctrine of the Triune God, and that there are three persons but one essence in the Godhead.
